What's new?

One time we were invited for a barbeque weekend at our friend's house. I still remember how amazed we were to find out him having a huge tricolored, stunningly looking dog. The pet turned out to be a Bernese Mountain Dog. Bright, unusual, joyful - everything you'd want in a good dog...there was only one thing - he was huge and fluffy. After talking to the owner we finally came to the realisation that this "teddy bear" is not the choice for a flat. Which was a very sad conclusion regarding of how much we fell for him. Any other breed now seemed to be more ordinary than before, we'd see more disadvantages in anyone. That's how we quitted looking for over a year. Everybody has kinda gave up when the accidental engagement at the Pet Shop occured.

One spring morning our mum went to buy some hay for the rabbit. She got everything needed and set on her way out when a woman walked into the PetShop holding a dog on a leash. This dog had a rather unusual appearance: medium sized, strong looking, a funny curly tail and the coloring...exactly like that Bernese had! "What kind of breed is this?" - the question which i still keep hearing from strangers now. That's how we've learned about an Appenzeller Sennenhund existing in this world. As I love to say "apartment variant" of a Berner which honestly talking is only similar by the color and different by everything else, even by the attitude towards life.

It was the same way full of accidents of us finding the only litter at that time in the Blagorodnii Dom kennel. Back in 2006 there was completely zero informatinon about an Appenzeller on the russian internet. There was only one free girl left among all of the puppies however her breeder Tatiana was going to keep her for herself. I have no idea how Tatiana (probably the experience) has come to the conclusion that we are that kind of a family that can be trusted with a breeding-class puppy, that

we are going to be able to raise her properly, get her to the dog shows and even breed her. And she chose right. Completely lacking an experience in keeping dogs due to never owning one we managed to accomplish all of the steps. And it affected me personally that much that I came to a decision to breed professionally. I've studied and keep studiing a lot of blood-lines all over the world, keep in touch with the breeders from other countries and have developed my personal vision and taste in the breed which I'm looking to achieve in next generations.

When we first moved to our new apartment next to this huge park and asked ourselves if we should get a dog, none of the family members had any idea about Appenzellers. To be totally honest there was hardly any knowledge about breeds at all, so we couldn't know what to look for. At the same time our family specific attraction to all extraordinary held a huge NO towards most popular breeds such as Doberman, German Shepherd, Labrador etc. We would've most likely quit the idea and didn't get any dog at all if one special accident in a Pet Shop didn't occur... I'll get back to that later.
